Jasmine Basrai- COO
Haller's Pharmacy has been a part of the community for over 50 years. The Basrai family has also been a part of the community for almost 40 years as pharmacy owners
Jasmine grew up in Fremont where her family owned pharmacies, Her family owned 11 pharmacies from Portland, OR to Monterey County over the last 40 years.
Jasmine earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Southern California. She started her professional career in consulting, where she worked for IBM for 20 years. During that time, she worked to build better processes for Fortune 500 companies and in mergers and acquisitions. Helping manage $250 million in IBM's software portfolio.
In 2018, she took over as COO for her family’s pharmacies in California: Haller’s Pharmacy and Medical Supply, Medical Pavilion Pharmacy, Alisal Long Term Care Pharmacy, Mowry Medical Pharmacy, and Mowry Plaza Pharmacy. During the pandemic, she partnered with Alameda County and the city of Fremont where they administered over 50,000 COVID vaccines. They have extended this program to administer flu shots, travel, and school vaccines in their area.
Jasmine is very active in her community. She was the Chairperson for the Fremont Chamber of Commerce, a member and board member of Fremont Niles Rotary, and a Planning Commissioner for the City of Fremont Planning Commission. She also serves as the president of Mission Possible Parent Faculty Association, advocating for students at Mission San Jose High School. She resides in Fremont, CA with her teenage son Aidan.
Sanjay Patel, Director of Pharmacy, Haller’s Pharmacy Group
Sanjay Patel is a seasoned pharmacist with extensive experience spanning more than two decades. After graduating from BK Modi Government Pharmacy College in Rajkot, India, Sanjay began his career in the United States with Walgreens, where he advanced from Staff Pharmacist to Pharmacy Manager, and later to Pharmacy Supervisor. Since November 2019, he has been serving as the Director of Pharmacy at Haller's Pharmacy and Medical Supply.
At Haller's, Sanjay oversees the pharmacy's vaccine distribution efforts, both in-store and through mobile services in Alameda County. He is instrumental in managing COVID-19 and other health testing initiatives at the store level and for the county. Sanjay's leadership extends to running clinical programs and spearheading educational efforts in the community in collaboration with the City of Fremont and Alameda County.
Sanjay's professional contributions are recognized widely. He is the Past President of the Alameda County chapter of the California Pharmacists Association and holds significant roles such as the Chair Elect for the Community Pharmacy Owner Special Interest Group. He currently manages the Northern California Chapter of the Indian Pharmacists Association of California, and serves as the Education Committee Chair. Additionally, Sanjay is a Managing Network Facilitator for CPESN Central California, a Luminary for CPESN California, and a member of the Diversity Advisory Group of CPESN USA.
Dedicated to community service, Sanjay is a board member of the Northern California Prescription Drug Abuse Prevention Alliance and participates in opioid overdose prevention task forces with Alameda County and the City of Fremont. He also mentors pharmacy students from the University of the Pacific, UCSF, Touro University, and Washington State University.
Tung Nguyen- Pharmacist
Dr. Tung Nguyen received his Bachelors of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of California, Davis, and his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Touro University in Vallejo, California.
Dr. Nguyen joined the Haller’s Pharmacy team in 2015 serving as the pharmacist-in-charge for Alisal Pharmacy in Salinas, California for almost 7 years. Prior to his arrival, Alisal Pharmacy did not provide any vaccinations so Dr. Nguyen started his immunization initiative to make vaccinations more accessible to an underserved community.
As much as he enjoyed Monterey County, Dr. Nguyen transitioned to Haller’s Pharmacy in Fremont, California in 2022 to be closer to home—the bay area. At Haller’s Pharmacy, Dr. Nguyen continues to expand his clinical knowledge and skills allowing him to provide a wider range of vaccinations including yellow fever. Other clinical endeavors Dr. Nguyen is involved with include COVID-19 and influenza testing with quick turnaround results, A1C point-of-care testing, diabetes self management education (DSME) and many other initiatives in the pipe-line such as post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) and pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP).
During his days off, Dr. Nguyen enjoys watching streaming content, playing video games and spoiling his cat, Tora.
Trung Tran, PharmD- Pharmacy Manager
At Haller’s Long Term Care Pharmacy
Trung Tran is a dedicated pharmacy professional, fluent in both English and Vietnamese, and holds a rich educational background with a Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of the Pacific, alongside dual bachelor’s degrees in Microbiology and Economics from the University of Washington.
Since 2010, Trung has been a pivotal member of Haller’s Long Term Care Pharmacy, where he has progressed from a staff pharmacist to a pharmacist consultant and now serves as the pharmacy manager. His career began with roles as a pharmacist intern and pharmacy assistant/technician, equipping him with diverse experiences across various pharmacy settings.
Trung's extensive clinical expertise is demonstrated through his senior clerkship rotations in areas such as infectious diseases, internal medicine, geriatrics, and oncology at prestigious institutions like Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital and Kaiser Oncology Infusion Center.
Licensed to practice in both California and Washington, Trung is actively involved with several professional organizations including the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists and the California Health System Pharmacists. His academic achievements are marked by honors such as multiple Dean’s List distinctions and membership in the Phi Sigma Theta National Honor Society, reflecting his commitment to excellence in pharmacy and health care.
Andy Wong- Pharmacist
Andy grew up in San Francisco, CA and graduated from UCSF School of Pharmacy in 2021. Prior to coming to Haller’s, he worked at Laguna Honda Hospital and Rehabilitation and SF Jail Health Services as a contractor where he fostered an interest in behavioral health.
Now as the Pharmacist In Charge at Alisal LTC Pharmacy, he and his team work closely with many long term care facilities and with numerous providers, many from Monterey county Behavioral Health, to provide the best pharmacy experience and care for all patients.
On The Weeknd’s, Andy enjoys hanging out with his very cute Shiba Inu, watching basketball, and rock climbing… sometimes all at the same time
David Kieu -Pharmacist
David Kieu, born and raised in San Jose, California, pursued his passion for science by attending UC Davis, where he earned a degree in Biochemistry. Following his undergraduate studies, David furthered his education at Pacific University in Stockton, obtaining his Pharmacist degree in 2008. His dedication to the field of pharmacy has led him to his current role as the pharmacy manager and Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) at Medical Pavilion Pharmacy in Gilroy, California.
Outside of his professional life, David is a multifaceted individual with a range of interests. He is an avid practitioner of yoga, finding balance and tranquility through his practice. In addition to his interest in wellness, David has a passion for hunting, and he recently achieved a significant milestone by shooting his first deer with a bow and arrow. Music also plays an important role in David's life, as he enjoys playing various instruments and immersing himself in the art. His diverse hobbies and professional dedication make David a well-rounded and valued member of the pharmacy team.
Riza Sese- Pharmacist
Riza Sese is a highly skilled and dedicated pharmacist with a rich background in the pharmaceutical industry. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines, in 1997.
Riza began her career at SmithKline Beecham, where she honed her skills as a Regulatory Assistant, ensuring compliance with local and international pharmaceutical regulations. She then transitioned to United Laboratories, taking on a crucial role in Quality Control, where she was responsible for maintaining the highest standards of product excellence.
Leveraging her extensive experience, Riza later became the owner of a retail pharmacy, managing all aspects of business operations and patient care. Her hands-on experience in pharmacy management and her commitment to providing exceptional service make her a valuable member of the Haller's Pharmacy team.
Rolen Sese- Pharmacist
Born and raised in the Philippines, Rolen Sese has been a dedicated pharmacist since 2010. He currently serves as the Pharmacy Manager at Mowry Medical Pharmacy, where he is committed to providing exemplary service to all customers. With a deep-rooted passion for healthcare, Rolen’s primary goal is to enhance patient care and ensure a positive pharmacy experience for each individual he serves.
Although Rolen is modest about his professional achievements, his tenure in pharmacy speaks volumes about his expertise and commitment to the field. His approachable demeanor and diligent work ethic have made him a respected figure among colleagues and patients alike.
Outside of his professional life, Rolen is an avid basketball fan, particularly of the Golden State Warriors. His love for basketball extends beyond just watching games; it's a passion that he shares with friends and family, fostering camaraderie and community. A lover of music, Rolen finds joy and relaxation in melodies, which complement his life beautifully.
Rolen is happily married to Riza, who is also a pharmacist. Together, they share a life filled with professional insights and a mutual understanding of the demands and rewards of their chosen career. Their partnership strengthens their commitment to health care and provides a supportive foundation for their personal and professional lives
Jaskirat (Jas) Bindra -Pharmacist
Jas is a dedicated and driven pharmacist passionate about delivering exceptional patient care. Born in India and relocated to New Jersey during her teenage years, she later made the move to California for pharmacy school and never looked back - the Golden State has stolen her heart!
She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Touro University, building on a strong foundation in chemistry and mathematics from her undergraduate studies. With a work ethic instilled from a young age, she's been fortunate to gain diverse experience across retail, accounting, and pharmacy settings since high school.
As a pharmacist, Jas thrives in fast-paced environments and is committed to staying up-to-date with the latest developments in healthcare. Her professional journey began with an internship at Walgreens, but it's at Haller’s Pharmacy where she's truly found her home. For almost a decade, she's been privileged to work alongside an incredible team that feels like family, sharing a common goal of providing personalized care to their patients.
Jas takes particular pride in having initiated the Medication Therapy Management (MTM) program at Haller’s Pharmacy, which has become a cornerstone of their patient services. She has continued to nurture and grow the program over many years, empowering patients to take control of their health and wellbeing.
When she's not in the pharmacy, Jas cherishes time with her wonderful husband and two beautiful daughters. She's grateful for the opportunity to serve her community and looks forward to many more years of making a positive impact at Haller’s Pharmacy - a place that has become an integral part of who she is
Sonel Seghal- Pharmacist
Sonel Seghal is a versatile and dynamic pharmacist whose career spans across multiple states and diverse roles within the pharmacy field. A 2000 graduate of the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy, Sonel began her journey in Boston, working as a pharmacist before relocating to Richmond, VA. There, she stepped into a management role at Walmart, showcasing her leadership and organizational skills.
Her career path then took her to Chicago, IL, where she specialized in managing an HIV specialty pharmacy, further honing her expertise in patient-centered care. In 2010, Sonel’s pursuit of professional excellence brought her to California. Here, she successfully obtained her fourth pharmacist license by passing the NAPLEX and CPJE exams, a testament to her dedication and adaptability.
Sonel’s extensive experience includes positions at CVS and a Skilled Nursing Pharmacy, before she found her ideal role as a part-time clinic pharmacist at Haller's Pharmacy. Passionate about beauty and wellness, Sonel also earned a degree in cosmetology and runs a thriving side business focused on fashion shows and hair care.
Fluent in Hindi, Punjabi, and English, Sonel brings a multicultural perspective and a personalized approach to patient care, making her a valued member of the Haller's Pharmacy team and a favorite among patients.
Bryan Chiem, PharmD Pharmacy Manager, Haller’s Pharmacy
Dr. Bryan Chiem received his Bachelor of Science degree in Public Health from the University of California, Irvine and his Doctor of Pharmacy and Master in Public Health degrees from Touro University California. He is also a member of the California Pharmacist Association and serves as a Board Director for the local chapter in Contra Costa County.
