You Matter — Especially This May
May is Mental Health Awareness Month. One in five U.S. adults experiences a mental health condition each year — and far too many face it alone. At Haller’s, we don’t think anyone should have to.
A few ways we can help:
- Medication reviews (MTM) — go over everything you’re taking, check for interactions, and talk through side effects
- Same-day pharmacist consultations through Scripted, starting at $19 — no doctor referral, no insurance required
- Free home delivery — because on the hard days, leaving the house can be too much
- A familiar face who knows you
Call us at (510) 797-2772 or visit hallerspharmacy.com.
In crisis? Call or text 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline — free, confidential, available 24/7.
Our Partner — Happier At Home
If you’re caring for an aging parent, spouse, or loved one, Happier At Home Fremont can help with one-on-one in-home senior care, companionship, meal preparation, medication reminders, Alzheimer’s and dementia care, and respite care for family caregivers.
May Is Hepatitis Awareness Month
National Hepatitis Testing Day is May 19. Hepatitis A and B are preventable with vaccines; hepatitis C is now curable in most cases. The CDC recommends every adult 18+ be screened at least once for hepatitis B and C.
If you’re due for a hepatitis A or B vaccine — or traveling somewhere it’s recommended — book with our pharmacist. Not sure if you’re up to date? Call (510) 797-2772.
Health Spotlight: Your Brain’s Nightly Therapy Session
REM sleep is where most dreaming happens — and where your brain consolidates emotional memories in a chemically calm environment. Cut sleep short and you cut REM disproportionately.
Common REM disruptors: alcohol, antihistamine sleep aids, late-afternoon caffeine, sleep apnea, stress, and many prescription medications including most SSRI antidepressants (don’t change anything without talking to your pharmacist or prescriber first).
How to protect your REM: consistent sleep/wake times, move the last drink earlier, keep the bedroom cool/dark/quiet, get screened for sleep apnea if you snore loudly, and for occasional sleep-onset trouble melatonin is generally gentler on REM than antihistamine-based products.
